SMOOTHING AND CORRECTION OF THE SHAPE AND APPEARANCE OF SCARS

The procedure is intended for patients who have scarring due to an operation or an injury. In some cases, clients are not satisfied with how scars look or how they have healed. Typically, such a correction is primarily of interest to clients who have scars in visible places, such as on the face, neck or hands. The scars cannot be removed, but it is possible to alter their shape and appearance.

A professional and qualified surgeon selects the most appropriate method of scar correction on the basis of an assessment of the scar itself, the site and the age of the scar and the age of the client.

We recognize several types of scars:

• bulging scars –    keloids can be corrected by injecting Diprophos. Usually 3 injections with an interval of 4-6 weeks is enough. The scar get to    the level of the skin and the redness fades. 

• sunken scars –    these can be corrected through the use of fillers. The filler is applied with a needle, and the place of injection can be    desensitized with a special gel.

• enlarged or    post-traumatic scars – these corrections are made through surgical    removal of the original scar. The reduction and narrowing of the    scar is done with a special plastic stitch.

The removal of scars is a non-invasive procedure done under local anaesthesia.

Course of the intervention

The length of the procedure depends on the size of the scar, though it is approximately in the range 30-60 minutes. The procedure is done under local anaesthesia and it is an outpatient procedure.

Recovery time

The client can return to work immediately after the procedure. For about one week, it is advisable that the wound not come into contact with water. The sutures are removed after 7-14 days, depending on the location. During this period excessive physical activity should be limited. Among the potential side effects are a temporary light pulling at the site of the suturing.
