Reduction mammaplasty
Breast reduction is an ideal surgical procedure when the excessive weight and size of the breasts causes the client physical and mental problems. Reduction mammaplasty is thus a plastic surgery that reduces the size of a woman’s breasts and modifies their shape. It consists in the removal of excess mammary gland, shaping the breast, removing excess skin and lifting the areola of the sagging breast. After individual consultation with the client, the plastic surgeon decides on the choice of surgical technique depending on the size of the breasts. Surgical techniques offer elegant surgical solutions that are very gentle on the mammary gland, preserving the sensitivity of the nipples as much as possible and minimizing the size of post-operative scars.
Pre-operative preparation
An internal pre-operative examination is necessary before the operation, the conclusion of which indicates whether the client can be operated on or not. An ultrasound of the breasts needs to be done.
Course of the operation
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia and lasts approximately 2-3 hours. After disinfection and masking of the operating field, the operation itself is performed. At the conclusion of the operation, the surgical wound is drained, if necessary. The wounds are covered with a sterile cover and the client is dressed in a fixation bra or an elastic bandage.
Post-operative course
The first outpatient check-up takes place after 1 week. The client must adhere to a regimen of rest for 1 week. Wearing an elastic bra is necessary for a total of 6 weeks. Full physical activity is only possible after 4 weeks.
